August 2008 In the isolated mountains of Ecuador, a community of four-feet tall dwarves appear to be immune from cancer and diabetes. Here, two scientists are on a mission to find the ultimate cure for cancer. Inbreeding among the small and remote Ecuadorian communities has led to a high percentage of Laron Dwarves. One third of the world's 300 Laron population live in the southern Loja province. "My parents are normal, my grandparents were normal. I have seven siblings, four of them are normal height and three of us are little," says one Laron sufferer. Dr Marco Guevaras and his brother Jaime believe the secret behind the dwarves' apparent immunity lies in the absence of a hormone called "insulin-like growth factor 1 or IGF1". Yet the scientists need to move fast in their research; an expensive treatment has already been discovered to alleviate the symptoms of the syndrome in children.

On December 18, 1956, WGN-TV's "Garfield Goose and Friends" introduced Chicago area children to Santa Claus' three favorite elves, Hardrock, Coco and Joe. At two-feet-high, Hardrock drove Santa's sleigh while Coco navigated and Joe tagged along for fun. To create the animated short or "song cartoonette", Hill & Range Songs hired Centaur Productions. The company was established in the early 1950s by Wah Ming Chang, a sculptor in Walt Disney's Effects and Model Department who created the model of Pinocchio; and George Pal, a producer and Academy Award nominee. The shorts were produced in black-and-white using stop-motion animation, a cinematic process that brings figures or puppets to life by minutely reposing and photographing them frame-by-frame, resulting as fluid movement on screen. Someone kindly uploaded what looked a 16mm telecine version which I have cleaned up a bit. I have got rid of some of the scratches and rebalanced the colours. The original soundtrack was rather distorted so I lifted the sound of another version from the web (with crap pictures)and cleaned that up re-synced it and put it back together. hope it looks okay. Further to that The Utube system does seem to have overprocessed the sound and distorted certain peaks - shame really as the sound on the uploaded MP4 is clean. Ps. Love to see a good verion of Tin Pan Alley Cats.
