bench-clearing brawl between the Dayton Dragons and Peoria Chiefs tonight at Fifth Third Field halted play for an hour and 9 minutes. Th17 ejections that were handed down following the brawl, which lasted about 10 minutes. pitcher Julio Castillo then threw a pitch close to Brandon Menchaca's head which prompted Dayton manager Donnie Scott to leave the third base coaching box and complain to home plate umpire Tyler Wilson. That prompted interim Peoria manager Carmelo Martinez to join the conversation, which quickly became heated, and when Martinez pushed Scott, the benches emptied. Several fights broke out behind home plate, and Castillo threw a ball that sailed into the stands behind the Dragons' dugout, hitting a fan who had to be taken to a hospital. Menchaca jumped on Castillo and eventually both managers and 15 players — including eight Dragons — were ejected from the game. Those ejected from the Dragons were starting outfielders Justin Reed and Phipps, Kevin Feiner (who was taking the place of Cozart), starting catcher Devin Mesoraco and pitchers Henry Arias, Jeremy Horst, Jeff Jeffords and Luis Montano. Peoria lost five starters, including outfielders Brandon Guyer and Cliff Anderson, catcher Mario Mercedes, third baseman Jovan Rosa and Castillo as well as pitchers Steve Vento and Audy Santana. Within 45 minutes after the ejections were announced, they were reversed after the Class A Midwest League office heard what happened from the umpires. The ejections were reversed because the teams did not want pitchers to play the outfield positions, which would have occurred had the ejections stuck. The pitcher Castillo was arrested at the park and faces felonious assualt charges!!!!

I am traveling through Kettering, Ohio and its neighbor the city of Moraine. In the previous videos, I traveled through Kettering and showed you some of the things here in the community. Now I take you through its neighbor. The city of Moraine is a dying city! Just as Trotwood, Riverside and Dayton, the city of Moraine is hit with economic turmoil. Delphi Corporation, the controversial automotive parts company that filed for bankruptcy a few years back. General Motors Truck and Bus Facility is closing. It is located here and was about 35% of the active manufacturing jobs in the Dayton area. Now both companies are forced to take drastic measures by shutting down and putting many employees out of jobs. The city of Dayton is part of the RUST BELT. Many areas from Western New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virgina, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, and to parts of Minnesota and Iowa are hit with this economic downfall. And it's impact is felt across the country. Splash Moraine is a water park located nearby (I will focus on that area in later postings). Sun Watch Indian Village is located in Dayton, Ohio and is a major tourist attraction near the city of Moraine. Also watch your speed! If you are on some of the city of Moraine roads, you could be caught in a speed trap? And believe me, you don't want a ticket. But anyways that the whole run down of the community of Moraine. The date slated for December 23, 2008, two days before Christmas. Local businesses are bracing for the impact. Governor Ted Strickland, Democrat, offered $60 million to keep GM in Dayton. GM turned it down. Even the lawmakers assisted in keeping GM in Dayton. They included Representative Mike Turner, Republican, Ohio Senators George Voinovich, Republican and Sherrod Brown, Democrat. The local mayors of Kettering, Moraine and Dayton were hoping they can delay the inevitable. But time has come. In the beginning, there were 40,000 jobs at GM, then 18,000. At last check almost a tenth of workers (less than 1,800) are going to be out of jobs. GM, Chrysler and Ford got a $17.5 billion dollar bailout from The Bush Administration. President Bush and President Obama both warn that if the automakers can't figure out a solution, they lose the loan. Corporate executives had to lose the private jets and stock in order to gain some money. Republican Senator Richard Selby of Alabama is very critical of this decision to bailout the automakers. What the Bush administration offered was a Band-Aid to a gun shot wound! For the conservatives watching, don't blame the unions for the GM closing. This is not the fault of any union, CEO, manager or employee. Times are hard for everyone, and the worst is yet to come. The two pieces augmented live performances from the Girls. However, for YouTube, the two pieces have been combined. The Rubi Girls have helped to raise over $200,000 for HIV/AIDS charities in and around Dayton and across the United States. In 2003, a documentary about the GIRLS premiered in San Francisco at Frameline's 27th Annual Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
