If people read the book they would understand that he doesn't feel like that now - but that's how he felt as a confused kid. But at the end of the book... he comes to that realization that people are complex and you shouldn't judge people. It just goes to show how its important to not take things out of context.

He cried in front of 20,000 in North Carolina when she died just one day before election. I know how it feels to lose someone so quickly... so his comment about his grandmother struck a nerve in me.

When she said she was afraid of some black guy becuase "he was black". He wrote that to him she acted like a 'typical white person'. This is how he felt as a kid, so stop you PC bullshit. That's hard to hear from your own grandmother when you yourself are black. Which than threw him into a depression, which fueled his drug use in highschool. Nice though... taking things out of context.
